The work of Leonardo Vargas unfolds as a pictorial investigation of photography as both a conceptual and formal reference. The exhibition focuses on two bodies of work: the reinterpretation of historical daguerreotypes and a series of works based on photographs from fashion campaigns. These source images refer to different contexts within art history and are transformed by the artist into an autonomous visual language.

Central to this practice is the conscious integration of error as both an aesthetic and technical strategy. Distortions, blurriness, and material disruptions do not appear as flaws, but rather as constitutive elements of the image. In this way, Vargas reflects on the conditions of photographic and pictorial representation while simultaneously expanding the possibilities of contemporary painting.
